Thursday, October 11

Tour Arch’s Black Thunder Mine (limited to 40, for Utility, Railroad & Associate Members only)

6:30am                 Depart Gillette’s Fairfield Inn (hazard training & presentation in transit)

7:30am                 Arrive at Black Thunder Mine - welcome

8-10:30am           Tour of Black Thunder Mine

11:00am               Depart Black Thunder Mine

12 noon              Arrive at Gillette’s Fairfield Inn (should accommodate making outgoing flights)

Recommended Option:  There is no room block for the group, however please ask for the $89.00 NCTA Rate.  In addition, for your convenience, tour van/bus pick up and drop off for mine tours will be at the Fairfield Inn parking lot.

Cloud Peak’s Antelope Mine – October 9

·         Transportation departs from Fairfield parking lot at 1:30pm

·         Van or bus transportation provided by Cloud Peak

·         Tour limited to utility, railroad and associate NCTA member participants (no other competitor producers please)

·         Tour limited to about 15 slots, please designate at time of registration

·         Handout of mine presentation and hazard training on the van ride

·         Tour will provide a handout with a mine presentation followed by observations of mining pit, drag line, control room and any other areas of interest.

·         All participants will be required to have steel toed shoes, hard hat and eye protection.  Mine will provide hard hats and eye protection however anyone without steel toed shoes                will be required to stay in the vehicle.

·         Pictures allowed with approval

 

Basin Electric’s Dry Fork Station – October 10

          Dry Fork Station is a 385MW coal fueled power plant with traditional pulverized coal technology.  The plant is a mine-mouth facility fueled by the adjacent Dry Fork mine.  The                  plants is equipped with low NOx burners, activated carbon injection system and has a backend with fluidized bed scrubber and fabric filter baghouse

·         Tour open to all participants and can accommodate up to 50 people

·         Participants should wear closed toed comfortable shoes.  Recommend long pants and no skirts.

Wyoming Integrated Test Center 

          Public-private partnership developed an Integrated Test Center (ITC) hosted by Basin Electric.  The ITC provides space for researchers to test carbon capture technologies                      utilizing a 20MW flue gas stream from Basin’s Dry Fork Station.

·         Tour open to all participants and can accommodate up to 50 people

·         Participants should wear closed toed comfortable shoes.  Recommend long pants and no skirts.

 

Arch’s Black Thunder Mine – October 11

·         Fairfield breakfast will be available at 6AM

·         Transportation departs from Fairfield Inn parking lot promptly at 6:30am

·         Van or bus transportation provided by Arch with MSHA hazard training in transit

·         Tour limited to utility, railroad and associate NCTA member participants (no other competitor producers please)

·         Tour limited to about 40 slots, please designate interest at time of registration with NCTA

·         Tour to include quick mine presentation plus primarily a riding tour of the mine.  Depending upon operating conditions, participants will see control room, loadout and train                        loading, coal face, crusher and truck dump, dragline operation, pre-strip run and reclamation.

·         Personal protective equipment of hard hat, safety glasses and boots required.  Participants are welcome to bring their own equipment or Arch can provide.  Please provide boot              size at time of registration.

·         Recommend participants wear jeans and a light jacket depending on weather

 

·         Participants will be asked to sign a waiver and camera pass plus complete MSHA hazard training
